FreeTheTree v.1.2.3 and newer versions now include a feature that will notify the user when the version of extension being used is out of date or has known security vulnerabilities and an updated version that fixes those vulnerabilities is available for download.
Chrome does a good job of updating your extensions automatically, but it checks for updates on its own schedule. If you know that a new version of an extension is out but Chrome hasn’t updated it, here’s how to do it manually. Chrome does, in fact, have an “Update Extensions” button built-in, but it’s a little hidden.
To update manually:
- go to Extensions page – type chrome://extensions in your address bar
- navigate through menu – click 2a, 2b, 2c
- click the Developer Mode
- you should see the “Update” button pop right up so use it
- check if the extension is enabled
- extension version
Note: reload Gumtree website after update.
