How FreeTheTree2 works

NEW: YouTube tutorials

FreeTheTree2 (FTT2) is a chrome browser extension to improves Gumtree the UK’s number one classifieds site functionality.
More about how to install it you find here.
By using FreeTheTree extension, you consent to our privacy policy.

NEW CONCEPT: In FreeTheTree2 we introduced new concept of saved adverts. They are blueprints for live adverts and stored locally in user browser and managed in FTT2 tab on Gumtree. This guarantee good quality images and quick access to data. How to save adverts, manage and use saved one please read below.

The extension adds below described functionality to “Manage my Ads” section.

Delete all – delete one by one all active adverts from “Manage my Ads”

Post similar – prepare new advert pre-filled with the same details as source advert. Previously used images are not available here as images ones uploaded to Gumtree are a very low quality.

Save live advert to FTT2 – saves live advert to FTT2 (this is experimental feature). We don’t recommend to use it as images saved by this method are low quality unless you change these images editing saved advert. To save adverts please use saving method described below.
When to use this: It might be use by these who post their adverts from smartphones but use PC to manage adverts. So after initial post from phone you will be able to save live advert to FTT on PC sacrificing some image quality but then further post/repost of this saved advert will keep the same quality.

FTT2 tab – place to manage/use saved adverts, more below.

Save advert – when posting a new advert you may choose to save advert to FTT2. It means it will be saved in your browser local database and available in FTT2 tab. How many adverts you can save depends to how much free storage space you have on your computer.
More about saving advert you find here.

Note: adverts are stored locally in browser so please be carful when clearing browsing data. Deleting browser site data will remove all saved adverts.
Read more about backup and restore saved adverts here.

Post – Post a new advert and delete associated live advert (Live Ad ID). It works similar to FreeTheTree1 “repost” feature. The difference is that the “Post” use saved advert details as a source, not a live adverts details as “repost” did. This guarantee good image quality.

Post similar – prepare new advert prefilled with the same details as source advert. Previously used images section is available now because the images comes from your stored locally saved advert and are a good quality.

Filter – shows only saved adverts containing entered words. Search is done on: price, title and all displayed on advert card details.

Sort – sort saved adverts by price, title, last posted date, location, times posted counter, creation date.

Quick edit price, title, location – click on price, title or location to quick edit them (see arrows on screenshot above)

Associated live advert – click on live ad id to open associated live advert or bin icon to delete it.
